In today’s tough economic climate, people are looking for ways to earn some extra money outside their 9 am to 5 pm regular, full-time job. One way to earn some extra cash is applying for a part-time property management job, or to put it another way, as a landlord. Most people, however, envision a typical job like that to be responsible for up to 50 or 60 tenants (basically a full-time job). A landlord for homes for rent basically acts like a typical landlord, but on a smaller, more manageable scale. This type of landlord might be responsible for four or five rental homes in any given time period. Actual job responsibilities might include the following:

· Search the classifieds for rental homes that are located in the same area with the same owner (if it’s rental by owner). Once you’ve located that owner, contact that person and suggest that you become the landlord or property manager for those rentals.
· Contact local real estate offices and ask to speak to the agent(s) who deal primarily with rental houses. Find out if the same person owns some of the rentals, and if so, ask for their contact details.
· Search the web for rental properties. Online property listing sites list hundreds of rentals throughout the country. Conduct a search in a specific area and within seconds a full listing homes for rent should appear. Again, narrow your search to a person who owns several properties.
